Pesca De Tiburones En Reservas Naturales:
¿Paradoja En La Gestión De Áreas Protegidas?

Roxana Laura GARCÍA LIOTTA - 2008
The study describes the artisanal and sport shark fishery at a marine reserve, through the analysis of the biology of the species involved, the natural characteristics of the MPA, and the social, political and economical aspects that allow shark fisheries to continue in the area. The report concludes that the fishery is unsustainable, and that since the area is a reserve, sharks should be getting full protection. Through the analysis the area, other examples of MPAs worldwide, and the regional and world context, the report finally suggests management actions for shark conservation not only within the MPA, but also throughout the SW Atlantic.
