Don’t worry about the stain too much

Stains are inevitable especially on special occasions where many people are involved in one place. It’s not worth getting all worked up over. Rather than constantly worrying about the upcoming stains that you have to deal with, why won’t you concentrate more on the positive things like the opportunity to see and spend time with your family and friends? Chances are no one but you will even see the stain, and if they do, they could care less. But if you still want to conceal or treat your carpet stain, you can follow the tips below.

Conceal the stain

Hiding the stain using a holiday decoration, potted plant, or a piece of furniture is the easiest solution you can do. A lot of stains happen around your tables and seating area. Hence, it’s only a matter of moving your coffee table or shifting around the couch for a couple of inches to completely hide a stain. For spots found in some parts of your carpet, think about putting your beverage or snack table over the stain.

Try spot-treating your carpet

If you think that you can eliminate some of the most typical stains such as those caused by foot traffic, food, wine, and coffee on your own as long as you deal with them as soon as possible. Here’s a guide for you that you should keep in mind:

  • First, you need to get a white cloth and place it over the stain and press straight down gently. Be careful not to rub the carpet so that the stain won’t get deeper within the fibers of your carpet. In terms of dried stains, put your metal spoon in your freezer for 1 hour and then use it after to scrape off as much of the stain that’s dried on as much as you can.
  • Second, put a spot carpet cleaner to the stain. Make sure that the carpet isn’t damp but not soaking wet as well. Leave it for approximately 10 minutes. But you have to test the cleaner on your carpet’s scrap to make sure that it will not discolor it. If you don’t have a carpet spot cleaner with you, you can always make a DIY one by mixing ¼ tsp. of white vinegar along with 1 tsp of mild detergent to a quart of warm, but not hot water.
  • Lastly, blot the stain using a clean cloth. Then, slowly work from the spot’s edges to the center. Once the stain is gone, blot with cold, fresh water and blot up excess water using a dry cloth. Ensure that the area is totally dry to prevent mildew or mold from forming.
